I bought this lamp to use because I often use my laptop in the dark and can't see my keyboard. This solves that; it's bright enough to illuminate the keyboard, but not so bright that it causes a glare. I've got a 17" (17.5"?) laptop, and I can position it to see most of the keyboard. Doesn't hit the number pad, but I don't need it to. It helps just to see enough to be able to have a good point of reference for the rest of the keys. I only just opened it yesterday, but so far it is stiff enough to keep the position I put it in and not sag. Lightweight and easily folded for travel. Worth the little money it costs!Edit: I forgot to mention that my keys are glossy black with white letters. Don't know if that matters.
