I was looking for a USB drive to hang on my keychain. I work in IT and when I'm not at work I always seem to end up working on someone's computer anyway, so I needed a drive I would have with me at all times full of software and tools I need that I would encrypt with BitLocker so its secured enough if it gets lost. Since I carry my keys almost everywhere I figured I would get a USB for my keychain. I've had a USB on my keychain for a few years and it was working fine but it was of a metal frame and it actually bent to the point where I could not insert it into a USB port. That became really annoying as I had to fix it prior to every use. So I looked for a new one and came across this bad boy.It is made of a highly durable plastic and feels rugged and tough. Its a bit bulkier than my metal one but it makes up for how robust it is! It comes with a cap and has a rubber O-ring on it which makes it water proof! The USB itself is 128gb which was a 3 time increase on the other one I had. I've had no issue with this USB and have treated it like crap and its still going. Great addition for those who want a rugged and high capacity USB drive.I love this product because like most flash drives, if your laptop isnt letting eject your flash drive and you have to take it out of the usb drive youre currently in, it wont corrupt all the flask drive files or you lose all your files. It keeps them safe!!! As a dj, I love that because sometimes you forget to eject your drive.it works alwaysThe USB works well and is durable enough to stay on my keys at all times. This is perfect for those who can get dirty at their jobs. The only room for improvement would be if it included programs on the drive to make it password protected. You could download your own but it would be more convenient if it came with some.I definitely put this through the ringer. Dropped in water stepped on it and was used in a very dirty dusty surrounding. Handled it all like a champ will buy again and recommend to anyone.I use USBs to keep my music library. I leave them inserted into my car's console and just read off of it instead of my phone. When it got hot, the Gorilla would cease to function. Took the car to the shop - not a software issue, changed Gorillas, also used USB extensions to keep the USB out of the console directly to avoid additional heat, still would stop working. Switched chord types, twice...the issue was the Gorilla couldn't handle the heat.Would still stop reading.I switched to corsair survivors and have not had the same issue using it the exact same way for two years. Hottest summer on record in Texas right now....zero problems. Gorilla USBs work as USBs, but that'sa ll they are overpriced USB's with some extra rubber molding. You can run the Darn thing over with your car and it still works.I run a portable version of Windows 10 with an Encryption File system and it'sthe only drive that works perfectly.I recommend it to everybody. The metal loop hook works perfectly with my keychain ringand is stronger then heck.It does the thumbing and the driving. Store your data safely and easily.Very good - strong - would buy againThis product is absolutely horrible. The product uses a really cheap memory controller and memory chips. I was backing up files onto the drive using my computer's USB 3.0 slot, and it suddenly disconnected by itself. What I assume is the memory controller got too hot and it shut itself off. I do not have this problem when it's plugged into the USB 2.0 drive, but it's too slow, although that it to be expected. Although consider this: Even when it was transferring files through USB 3.0 I found the file transfer to be insanely slow. What's the point of having a rugged USB key when it's slow and it disconnects by itself while using USB 3.0? I bought a cheap Verbatim USB drive and that worked fine with USB 3.0. Slow, but fine.If you really want a good rugged USB Key, get a Corsair Survivor instead. That's actually made with good quality parts.Works just fine, however the packaging claims speeds up to 100MB/s are rather exaggerated. CrystalDiskMark reported speeds no greater than 30MB/s. If you want a fast USB-based storage device get one of those USB to M.2 adapter cases. But if you want weatherproof storage in a small area this is fine.Works as expected. Very heavy duty.I purchased a smaller size GorillaDrive several years ago and I still have it and use it. It is the most durable USB drive I have ever used. Great Product.
