The dock sits on a table behind my desk and I needed easier access to a 7-in-1 USB hub/adapter. This extension cable fit the bill perfectly. Unlike another cable that I tried that gave me a blue screen in Windows at every start, this cable works flawlessly. (I've also tried it out on a Mac, and it works great on that system too.) The cable is hefty and well-made.USB 3.0 is considerably faster than USB 2.0, but it's backwards compatible so all of your USB 2.0 devices can plug into it and use it with no issues. My hub is a USB 3.0 hub, and so when I connect USB 3.0 devices such as my thumb drive or external SSD drive, data transfer is blazingly fast.If you're looking for a USB extension cable, I'd highly recommend this one. I also like to use an extender to bring access to rear USB ports to the front of my computer. This cable works well. Sturdy enough.I recently received a webcam for use with one of my desktop (media center) computers. I want to use the webcam placed on a tripod near to where I sit.But the webcam's permanently attached cord is just a bit too short to reach the computer so, until recently, I had to place the tripod further away from my chair than I wanted. Not only did this affect the picture, it also affected the sound.So when Amazon Vine offered this USB 3.0 extension cord to me, I immediately ordered it. (Note that the webcam's cord is only USB 2.0 but USB 3.0 cords are "backwards-compatible.")When it arrived, I examined it carefully (as I always do with items I purchase) and I was immediately struck by how well this cable is made.The cord is fairly thick yet it folds and unfolds easily. The plug and the port are both very well-made indeed. The USB 3.0 plug even comes with a plastic protector.Of course I immediately tried it with my webcam and, as expected, it worked perfectly.So now, this cable is a "permanent" attachment for use with my webcam in my upstairs den.I could not be more pleased. BulkI got this for a run to my monitor which is not at the same desk as my tower, and this has worked for me great.It's thick enough to get the USB signal the full 10 feet without any noticeable drops in speeds at all.I even daisy chained a USB 3.0 and a USB 2.0 hub to it and it handles it beautiful. I would have totally understood if my multiple daisy chain runs wouldn't work due to length limits and data limits but the USB 3.0 Speeds seem to help it's ability to power a USB 2 hub as well off of it.My daughter got this cable to make her desk set-up in her bedroom work for school. The length of the cable is what drew her to this specific one and it she's happy with it. It's improved the functionality of her desk and is working well.
