With this dock, I can leave my mouse, keyboard, monitor, speakers, and other USB devices all connected to the dock, and then just pop my laptop in and out as needed.Hot docking / undocking works perfectly with my Lenovo T430s running Windows 10 - all of the devices get recognized once I click the laptop into the dock.I have this dock for my T420s and T430s computers. A definite must have if you want to expand the display across more than your laptop screen while at your desk. Has excellent expansion of USB with 8 USB2 connections and a USB3 connection. I have this setup for in concert with a desktop machine, with a KVM switch to swap between my gaming desktop computer and my work laptops. I have one at my desk in the office and one at my desk in my home office. This will not work for the T440s computers as the docking connection was switched on the newer machines, which was a major disappointment that Lenovo would render this dock inoperable for their newer machines.Notes on the display expansion---------------------------------------The following is not a reflection of the dock itself, but the interaction between the dock and computer. The ability or lack thereof is a reflection of the differences in Lenovo's setup in the computer and my opinion on how to best utilize your dock.T430s - In order to get three screen support (two external displays + internal display) you need to have the external monitors connected using the DisplayPort connections. If you use the DVI, the wiring internal to the laptop only allow two screens to function, either two externals or one external + one internal. The display port connections have to be DisplayPort to DisplayPort, no DisplayPort to DVI connections from what I can tell.T420s - Supports three screens regardless of how you connect your monitors, either DisplayPort or DVI.I bought this unit to supply a docking platform for my Thinkpad T530. It now works great but only after some trials and tribulations with Windows 8. It has a multitude of USB ports as well as monitor connections. Well built. It mates up very well with the Lenovo monitor stand.I had issues for several days though with Windows 8. Most important DO NOT DELETE the Intel USB 3.0 Extensible Host control in the Device Manager. I did this when my USB 3.0 drive lost power and gave an error message. In attempts to restart it, I deleted the driver. Realized later I needed the driver but could not re-install it. WIn 8 does not recognize a new installation for some reason. Called Lenovo and they told me the port must have failed. However, when I tried the new one I still could not connect my USB 3 to minidock. Finally did a system restore to point prior to the problem with the drive and viola - driver reappeared and USB 3.0 port started working. This quite possibly is a problem unique to the T530 but be very leery of removing the driver.Unit now is working just fine. Have two monitors hooked up and all the USB ports work. Very easy to undock the laptop. Only thing that you need to do when re-docking is to extend the monitor displays using the "screen resolution" tab since it defaults to a single screen once undocked. Only takes a few seconds to fix.So I love Lenovo laptops for their durability and convenience, however that means your gonna keep one around and use it past its lifespan. The dock can help reduce the wear and tear on the USB port or help circumvent that while expanding your connectivity options. It helps it run cooler. Value-wise you get second matching charger 2 Is this desktop now no not in the least, however if your laptop has been pulling double duty as home computer and travel one then this really is worth the money. No complicated setup. Added perk, when locked down all my connection are much more stable and reconnect 10x as quick, so gone are the days of bumping cable mid game and having to restart it.I shopped for a LONG while for docking stations. There are a lot of other USB docking stations/port replicators out there that will do fine if you have different types of laptops in your home or office, but feature wise this is the closest you will come to a true desktop experience I have found.I recently replaced a Lenovo X200 which I had the docking station for. Lenovo has by far the best docking solutions out there. I purchased an T430 and then we got my wife one as well. The reason this is so buch better than a USB station is everything is plugged into the back of the mini dock. You will not have to plug in a USB or power supply to your laptop. You sit it in the dock and your done. When you are ready to go, simply push the button and your off. Its "rip and go" so regardless of what you are doing you can undock and windows will sleep or stay on if you have the screen open. In addition, there are a lot of software issues with the various USB docks out there that turned me off from them. This thing is very reliable.Just wish it had an exhaust fan, or a way to easily attach one.Couldn't figure out how to run 2+1, but it still works great for the cost!I will receive my docking station tomorrow and will update my rating after I get in place. However, I thought it might be helpful to post what computers this station is compatible with since I struggled to find that information.Compatible Thinkpads:X220, X230, X220t, T400s, T410, T410s, T410i, T410si, T420, T420s, T430, T430s, T510, T510i, T520, T530, L412, L512, L420, W510, W520, W530, T520 Dual Core models. It's working well and makes my trusty Lenovo T430 way more portable.Dock was a date late for shipping, but works great and is exactly what I expected.Works without any issues -- using it with 2 monitors for the workhorse T430.
