It's a solid product. It's only "flaw" (in my case) is that the 20 pin plug is too large. Because my motherboard had two 20-pin headers very close to each other (SUPERMICRO MBD-X10SLM-F http://amzn.to/1SVONub). One for the front USB 3.0. The other for this adapter which will give USB 3.0 to the back of the computer. I've checked and all the other manufacturers do the same. Their plugs are "fat". What I did is shaving the plug on one side and solidifying it all around with Locktite professional superglue (http://amzn.to/1SVOzmV) (cause if we don't the plastic piece, with the 20 (19) holes in it, would dislodge itself from the PVC jacket eventually. That's what happened to me with the first adapter I've ordered (it was a lost cause, so I've ordered a new one).). With the superglue, I've tried to force out the plastic piece with a pair of pliers and I couldn't! The cable would tear before the plastic would come out! Problem solved! In my case there was, from left to right, three headers : USB 2.0, USB 3.0, USB 3.0. Just make sure you use the case's USB 3.0 plug in the middle (if it's a slim one like me; with my case their plug was slim enough (Cooler Master N200 mATX / mITX Tower Case http://amzn.to/1P0Wa2v)). We'll use the StarTech plug on the right side. That way we only have to shave it on one side. It'll be more solid. But with the super glue, it could be shaved on both side no problem. When I buy a product online, I trust that it’s photo will accurately depict what I will end up receiving. And while I did end up receiving a 2-port USB 3.0 slot adapter, what I did not receive was the one pictured, which as of the date of this review depicts 2 very closely spaced ports near the top of the bracket, with black “SS” logos printed on the slot.Sometimes, the design of a product is just as important for choosing it over another as its functionality. In this case, I wanted the empty blank space on the slot cover to cut in an RS232 port, and paid extra for that. But the product I received has two widely spaced ports, mostly centered on the slot, making my goal impossible. This is actually the same design as the vast majority of other (cheaper) 2-slot USB adapters available on Amazon. The keyed female header connector fits the the male connector on my Intel B75 motherboard perfectly. Unlike a PCI-e card, no additional drivers are necessary. I had my PC for a year and a half and only recently noticed the available connector when I opened the case for dusting otherwise I would have bought this sooner.I was afraid the cable might not be long enough for my mid-tower case but turns out I have inches to spare.Delivery was postponed by one business day by UPS but who am I to complain about free shipping.I have yet to experience USB 3.0's 5 Gigabit per second speeds as I have no such devices, however, I have plugged in a USB 2.0 flash drive to both ports and Windows 8 recognized the device immediately which is great news considering the alternative would be a short circuit.Yes I recommend this to anyone in my situation and yes I would buy this again without hesitation or regrets should I need it.It installed easily, added two USB 3 ports to the back of my case,. and works without any added drivers. The cable is plenty long for most motherboards (installed on a full size ATX), but it is semi thick which does not allow you to bend & tuck it away that much,. Basically it goes where it wants to in your case, and you have to be ok with that,. and for the most part I am,. For those with fancy windowed cases this may not give the look you want,.But it certainly does the job it was designed to do.I purchased this one specifically because the usb ports can be unscrewed from the metal plate and then be used as internal USB3 ports something I'm going to need in the not too distant future for a high end USB3 card reader that requires 2 ports but does not plug into the header directly...Performs as advertised. The plastic the outer ports is housed in is very flexible and rubbery, so the ports themselves tend to wobble around a lot if you plug something into them and apply sideways tension. This probably isn't an issue, but it just feels like a general lack of quality.did not come as pictured. Picture shows 2 different USB-3A-F connectors, each with a set of screws to hold it to the bracket. What arrived was 1 double USB-3A-F with the USBs connected and only 2 screws holding them to the riser. I will not send it back as I need to send this out today. I was hoping for the 2 seperate pieces so that they could be removed from the riser and positioned independently if needed. The cable length, which was my main concern turned out to be just perfect. It fitted perfectly in my chassis and across the motherboard. I would not recommend this if you're using a very large board, like a server Xeon board.Installed it almost as it arrived, plugged in a couple 4TB external drives and works perfectly. It's just been days since I started using it, so this is more of an early verdict. It works, and very well. This expansion slot allowed me to take advantage of the USB 3.0 headers on my new Gigabyte motherboard by adding USB 3.0 connectors on my PC case's back external slots.. It's a standard 20-pin connection on the motherboard which provides two USB ports. The product fit well, and the cable was heavy-duty. Win 7 immediately recognized anything I plugged into the two USB ports. After installing a second USB 3 controller into my PC (at the bottom of the picture), I bought this bracket to add an additional 2 ports using the internal USB 3 header on that card. You can see it installed at the top of the picture.Pros:- Good quality USB 3 ports- Internal USB 3 cable is of good length (should reach any motherboard/card port) and is thick with good shielding to maintain full transfer speedsCons:- No half height bracket provided - full height cases onlyIt works perfectly and the ports are of good quality.Well made, exactly as described. Great way to add USB 3 ports to the rear of your case when the card is an internal only one.I used this with a Silverstone SST-ECU01 which features two internal USB3 connectors. Of course, by itself that's not very useful unless your case has USB3 connectors. However, if you're buying a USB3 addon card, it's fairly likely your case does not feature these. I removed the backplate from my add-on card, and shoehorned in this adapter to provide two rear ports. For the front parts I used an Akasa Lokstar M51, which includes two USB 3 ports in addition to a hot swap trayless SSD and hard drive caddy.Bought two of these usb3 back plates for my new pc build. Both arrived in separate deliveries and appear to have been charged separately. Both units over the last two days have been reported by windows 7 ultimate [64bt]to have failed!!I intend opening pc case again tomorrow to re check connection before contacting Amazon. My only other comment would be that there is little spacing between the two ports on this plate.Well made and works just fine. The cable is far too long though for a normal back plate application.I used it to replace the front USB 2.0 ports of LIAN LI PC-Q07 pc case. Fits perfectly. Good product.
