So tiny, 2" x 3" x 1/2", SO CUTE ! I like and dislike the fact that the USB3.0 cable is specialized and heavy. I just hope it doesn't break because replacing it will take more than a visit to the local CVS or Walgreens. I like the fact that the AC power converts to 5V and the connector fits another device too [the other device didn't come with a wall transformer]. I bought a DVD burner and needed a reliably USB 3.0 hub (for the bandwidth) and CNET reviews said this TU3-H4 unit was a full USB 3.0. The picture doesn't match, one of the output ports is on another side and the input port is not the one pictured. It doesn't matter. Haven't yet tested it on a burn or on a single or multiple HD or memory card/stick data transfers so I have no way of knowing the max data tanrsfer speed to the single USB 3.0 port on my notebook. This product worked great for 20 months then just quit. Won't power up! For almost $60 it should have lasted longer than that.Very easy to setup. Just plug into a power supply and USB3.0 port. With Win7 the drivers install automatically. My system instantly recognized my Seagate GoFlex and Drobo units. The drivers for these were installed and I have near 5GB/s speed to each of these units.Piece of crap failed on December 11, 2019.I love it. I have 4 flash drives and 2 external drives. And this thing helps a LOT!I've owned three of these for almost two years. In my ASUS P7P55D-Deluxe Motherboard with i7-860 they all worked OK. I had throughput consistently around 98MB/sec. They did have one issue where the drives would repeatedly drop off and then reconnect, but only if they were not currently in use. This did not happen in my other USB 3.0 hubs.A week ago I built a new PC with an ASUS Z97 Deluxe Motherboard and an i7-4790K and now all three with the same drives attached only get about 34MB/sec. If I connect any of the drives directly to the Motherboard USB3 ports I get around 100MB/sec.I have two other different brands of USB 3.0 Hubs and they both work fine on both the old and the new PC.There is clearly some kind of bug in the Trendnet Hubs.I am going to pull one of the ACOMData SuperSpeed USB 3.0 PCI-E cards from the old machine and try it in the new PC using the exact same drivers to see if it makes a difference. The old PC did not have USB 3 ports on the motherboard. I will report back with an update.BTW, both systems are using Windows 8.1- EDITED on 7/16/2014 -Well the hubs still have a speed problem when connected to the ACOMData SuperSpeed USB 3.0 PCI-E card in my new PC. Bear in mind this is the exact same card with the same Windows 8 built in driver that worked in the old PC. I think the evidence very strongly indicates the issue is with the TrendNet TU3-H4 Hubs. Again, all my other USB 3.0 hubs work fine in all my ports, but the three TrendNet hubs all function at very poor speeds.BTW, I've been a computer professional for over 30 years. I've built hundreds of PC's and I understand them at every layer from the electrons to the application layer and everything in between. Troubleshooting is my forté. If anyone could get this functioning it would be me.I got this 4-port hub mainly for my college-age child to use with his mac. Works like a charm so far. It's simple to use - plug and play - and carries the 3.0 speed that's needed with today's machines. If there are any faults I have with it, it would be: 1) The charger seems extraordinarily large. Does it really need to be that big? It takes up a lot of room and, if you're like most people and have several items to plug in around the computer, this can pose a problem. 2) It doesn't really have four usable ports. Technically yes but I think it's a misleading description because one of the ports is for connecting it to the computer. you have to use that port so you effectively go from one usb port (on your main computer) to three usb ports. As long as you know what you're getting, good deal. If you needed four free ports, however, look elsewhere.Adoption for USB 3.0 has been slow compared to previous USB releases. The reason isn't clear, but one may be that, apart from backup, many of the use cases for USB are often handled satisfactorily by USB 2.0. (This is a little jarring for those of us accustomed to sucking it up and replacing perfectly good gear with new stuff supporting a new standard). The price point, size, number of ports and external power supply are what makes this unit stand out. It's small enough to be carried comfortably in carry-on luggage, and its support for four ports makes it a great application for additional laptop USB ports. (Would be great if iPads had USB, eh?) I have two USB 3 devices that I tested and they worked OK (sans benchmark). It would be nice if the power supply were smaller (a la Apple standards), but that's a compromise worth making.
